What Makes a Blog Successful – Cast Your Votes!!

“What makes a blog successful?” If you are a blog owner, then I’m sure this question haunts your mind all the time. Being the owner of a blog myself for quite some time now, I have also been trying so many ways to make Graphic Design Blog successful in the blogosphere. Now, without boasting, I would say I succeeded to some extent but still don’t know which thing works the most to make a blog “HIT”.

Some say that content is the heart and soul of a blog while others give complete credit to powerful social media and SEO. Some even assert that appearance of a blog is the prime factor of its success and many think attractive picture collections play an important role. Hence, today I decided to launch a poll on “what makes a blog successful” to help myself and others find the key element of a blogs success.

However, I have managed to identify and list five core reasons that boost a blog. So guys, take a deep breath, think for a minute and drop your VOTE below.
 
 

I would also like you to read and understand the significance of all these above mentioned factors to know the correct answer.
 

1. Content:

• Many people believe “Content is king”.

• Interesting blog posts attract visitors

• Unique content makes your blog standout from competitiors.

• It builds credibility of your blog and positions you as a trusted guide.

• Your readers keep coming back to get genuine and useful information.
 

2. Social Media:

• Social Media introduces your blog on various social networking sites.

• It provides your blog with quality audience reach and traffic.

• It builds a platform for your readers to communicate and interact with you.

• The more prominent you are, the more famous your blog gets.

• It gets your blog strong web presence.
 

3. SEO:

• Search Engine Optimization is an old yet effective trick in the book of online media.

• Your blog gains search prominence on famous search engines.

• Readers prefer clicking on your blog because of your blog’s ranking.

• Search Engine Optimization yields increased traffic to your blog.
 

4. Attractive Pictures:

• It makes the website visually attractive and interesting.

• A picture is worth a thousand words.

• Through attractive pictures, even a common reader enjoys your blog.

• Catchy pictures help you convey a message easily to readers.

• It’s quick and easy for the visitors to view your blog.
 

5. Blog Appearance:

• Your first impression is the last impression.

• Good appearance attracts more readers and visitors to your blog.

• User-friendly appearance of the blog helps generate more traffic.

• A clean and accessible theme will enable more users to stay on your blog.

    I voted Content: SEO can get your visitors TO you, and the Appearance and Pictures will make them stay but your CONTENT will always get them to come back for more. That’s the note of a successful blog is return visitors.

    I vote for Content as making a blog most successful.
    The reason I say this is because people want fresh and new information. Same as the search engines really.. If there is no fresh and new content regularly, people wont come back, and people wont refer you to others :)

    Yeah, the content is the most vital part. Even if the design is ugly, i would still read the articles.

    I think it’s all together or better to say right balance between all points, and required balance for each blog can be different. Important is to find your own way.

    Blogs are all about value and uniqueness, from the user’s perspective. SEO certainly helps in driving traffic, if that in itself qualifies as a “success.” Design adds credibility and makes the site more usable. But yes, content reigns supreme, and for the long-term success of any informational (i.e., non-marketing) site, fresh ideas and useful insights will always win over and keep users coming back. The web is, after all, a medium of idea exchange. I suppose for a highly focused design blog, the design itself could be considered part of a site’s intellectual value — but I still think written ideas take precedence in the vast majority of cases.

    I think content and SEO are the most useful. Even if a blog is attractive it is not necessarily interesting or useful.

    I really think that Content is the most important reason to come back to a blog once and again. But Social Networking and SEO help people to know that your blog exists. Nevertheless, I think all the reasons above are important.

    All five are really required, and because of that it’s tough to pick one that is the most important in making a blog “successful.” A blog can be great without being successful and widely read, and what makes a great blog is the content above all else. Design and having attractive and relevant images are important too, and can really define a blog, but the most important thing is content.

    For a blog to be successful, it needs SEO and it needs some kind of social media support, but it has to be worth reading.

    I should say design being a designer but it’s content for me. If the content isn’t of interest or relevance then it doesn’t matter how it looks or how many times I come across it on social media or SEO.

    Have to agree with Richard - a blog is a unique and topical feed that is regularly updated with useful topical posts. SEO should come as a part of good writing.

    all things are much needed for the success of blog but the most thing needed is perfect content. Information and well written content should be the first priority but other should not be avoided.

    Content is very important, but important content wrote in a chaotic and stressful environment makes me leave without reading anything, I would rather start looking for the same information in another website.

    Content is the most important part of the successful blog. If you have good content you can eventually get a lot of daily traffic and subscribers. If you have a lot of loyal readers and subscribers you don’t have to worry about SEO any more because you have people reading your blog every day because of the content and not because of keywords in your posts.
