We all have seen flashy and tragic Hollywood movies of the world apocalypse and doomsday conspiracies. Yet, none of us are ever ready to face the real deal when it hits us, whether in the form of earthquakes, floods or volcanic eruptions. |
The tropical wave that developed in the Caribbean Sea on October 21, 2012, culminated into a tropical storm and later into a Category 1 hurricane which wreaked havoc in the Greater Antilles, the Bahamas, the Eastern United States, and Eastern Canada. By October 29, 2012, it was declared as the post-tropical cyclone. |
Louis Uccellini, the director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Centers for Environmental Prediction US, called it a storm of “historic” proportions which affected life in at least 22 states, covering pretty much the whole of the East coast of United States. |
With the overall toll of lives lost and disrupted reaching a staggering number, people are devastated and praying throughout the world for the safety of their loved ones, and the innocent human beings in general, struck by the severity of mother nature. It is, perhaps, high time we begin to take the environmental issues more seriously and begin to play our small individual parts honestly. That is the least we all owe to each other, isn’t it? |
Have a look at this photographic account of the disaster and pray for all those who now have a long and daunting way to recovery. |
